Shark puttu or Sura Puttu is a delicacy.Our family is a big fan of it.Simple yet so delicious.
This is a side dish which can be had with white rice and sambar.
1 lb shark meat
5 cloves of large garlic minced
1 inch ginger minced
2 handful minced onions
1/2 tsp turmeric
1-2 green chillies as per taste
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
5 curry leaves
Salt to taste
1.Boil water and cook the shark meat in salt water for 15 mins.Shred the meat after cooled
2.In a pan heat oil,when sufficiently heated add mustard seeds.
3.After mustard seeds splutter add the curry leaves and allow to crackle.
4.Add the onions,salt,ginger and garlic and saute until all the ingredients are tender and have lost their raw smell.Which would 10-15 minutes.Do not burn them.
5.Add the green chillies ,turmeric powder and saute for a minute.
6.Add the shredded fish and 1/8 cup of water cover and cook for 10-15mins,stirring in between,sprinkle water if needed.
7.Switch off the flame.
